Prosecutor: Newark Man, 27, Shot Dead

A 27-year-old man was shot dead in Newark, authorities said.

Faheem R. Muhammad was gunned down on the 400 block of Lyons Avenue Monday, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said.

Muhammad was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m., the prosecutor said.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
